Westminster Palace also called the House of Parliament is a must see for every tourist because aside from its marvelous architecture and history, it also is where the bicameral legislature (House of Lords/House of Commons) of the UK. Westminster was built in the Middle Ages and was the monarch’s residence during the late Medieval period.
Big Ben
Big Ben (sometimes known as the Tower Clock) is the common name for both the clock and the tower bell that rings on the clock. More than that, Big Ben has become the most famous symbol of London. While most people think that Big Ben is just the clock, it also can refer to the whole tower making it one of the tallest clock towers in the world.
Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle (Berkshire county) is one of the residences of the Royal family of England. It’s a must for tourists to see this place because it’s one of the oldest castles in the world that first existed during the time of William the Conqueror. Windsor castle spans about 1000 years of English history and yet, it still remains inhabited — in fact — it is said that it is the favorite castle where Queen Elizabeth spends her weekends.
Tower of London
The Tower of London was founded almost a thousand years ago and it is known today as the place where the Crown Jewels have been kept and is one of the homes used by the Royal Family. It was built in the 1080s by William the Conqueror who meant it to be a huge and massive stone tower to add to his London fortress. Every monarch who succeeded him added more fortifications and improved and renovated the Tower which later became a prison and a palace. During the Medieval period the tower was renovated.
Althorp
Althorp was built in 1508 and has been the home of the Spencer Family for the last 500 years. It has always been a favorite tourist site since the death of Princess Diana in 1997 where she has been laid to rest. Visit the Althorp Spencer Castle and walk around the remodeled gardens and feel the peace as you go through the Oval gardens.
Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor takes visitors back to those tragic days when Japanese forces attacked all US military installations which led to the fall of the Pacific. This tour takes visitors back to the site of the attack; the Arizona Memorial and the huge USS Missouri, which is the last battleship of the US Navy. Visiting the Arizona Memorial may be sobering but it gives the tourist a feeling of being a part of history.
Lanai Island
Known also as “The Garden of the gods”, Lanai island is a tourist destination for those looking for a relaxing idyllic setting to spend a vacation. Its main feature is Keahiakawelo , the place of the garden of the gods, which is a rather eerie but breathtaking rock garden that is made up of different types of mysterious rocks.
Molokai Island
Molokai is also considered the OLD Hawaii. Thus, if one is looking for the usual city tourism glitz, you won’t find it there. But if you’re looking for the real Hawaiian vacation, then you’d find it all here in this island minus the annoying traffic. Kaunakakai, the island’s main town is where you’d find most of these tourists attractions. Take a visit to the Coconut Grove planted in 1860 for then King Kamehameha V. Originally it had more than a thousand coconut and palm trees fronting about 10 acres of pristine beachfront. Clear water pools are there for you to indulge in, formerly known as the Queen’s Baths.
Oahu Island
Aside from Waikiki Beach and Pearl Harbor there are more sights in Oahu that a tourist can see. Among them are Ko Olina, one of the newest resort communities near the Hawaiian Adventure Water Park that offers you an array of water slides, man made water falls, water coasters and almost every activity that you may wish to do in water. If you choose to have real water sports you can go to Kanoehe Bay which is more of an inlet that’s the most sheltered beach within the Hawaiian archipelago.
Maui Island
Maui island is one of the best islands in the world. There are about 80 beaches in this small island that has a long 120 miles of coastlines. Thus, you can enjoy and walk in the beach of your choice. There are white sand beaches, but there are also bown and black sand beaches that you can walk through. If you love diving and snokeling, you can visit the north end of Kaanapali Beach which is also sometime scalled “Black Rock”.
